Woman's Team Take Team Title - Junior PanAm Championships

The Canadian Woman’s Team took the team title at the Junior Pan American Championships this morning. The United States finished in second place and the host team Nicaragua finished third.

In total the Canadians brought home 7 medals (2 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze).

44 KG - Haley Thomas - U of A – Silver Medal
48 KG - Jade Papke - Matmen – Bronze Medal
51 KG - Jade Parsons - Brock – Gold Medal
55 KG - Laura Gordon - BMWC – Fifth Place
59 KG - Jessy Seida - Dinos – Silver Medal
63 KG - Dorothy Yeats - YMHA-MWC – Gold Medal
67 KG - Lisa McKibben - Cattown – Silver Medal
72 KG - Sabrina Kelly - U of A – Silver Medal

Coach Owen Dawkins had this to say about the team’s performance, “It was a great competition had by all. The girls wrestled fantastic this morning. They were in command of all their matches. The matches that we lost were due to a lack of experience at this level. That is why we came here to gain international wrestling experience. I am happy with how we performed and confident that all the girls will develop from this experience.”
