2000 Olympic Gold Medallist Daniel Igali to visit Toronto region May 31st & June 1st

2000 OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST DANIEL IGALI TO VISIT MAY 31st/JUNE 1st

On May 31, 2002 and June 1, 2002 Olympic Gold Medal Wrestler Daniel Igali will once again team up with the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association (OAWA) for several appearances in the Toronto and Durham areas.

On May 31st the Champion will visit Woburn Collegiate (Scarborough), Sinclair Secondary (Whitby) , and Pickering High Schools. The visit is co-sponsored by the Team Impact Wrestling Club. In addition to speaking before school assemblies at each school, Daniel will also share some time with youngsters at a Team Impact Wrestling Club Practice at Pickering High School following the final assembly. The appearance will be the most recent in the 'Keep Sweating' Ontario Tour. Managed by the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association, the 'Keep Sweating' Tour has already seen Daniel make appearances before thousands of young people all across Ontario since the program's launch in the Fall of 2001.

On June 1, 2002 Daniel will be the guest of honour during the lunch break of the Annual General Meeting of the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association. That evening, Daniel will once again Team up with Team Impact as Guest of Honour at their annual Lobsterfest Fundraising Dinner. Team Impact features participants from Youth to National Team levels from all across the greater Toronto area and is recognized and funded as a Regional Training Centre by the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association, the Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association, and the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario (formerly the National Sport Centre - Ontario). The 'Keep Sweating' Tour is sponsored by the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association. The program is supported by the Ontario Trillium Fund, and the Association is supported by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. The Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture. The Foundation receives annually $100 million in government funding generated through Ontario's charity casino initiative.

Daniel is fresh off his successful return to competition having taken some much needed time off after the 2001 World Championships. He recently won the Canadian Senior Championships in convincing fashion.
